#20 May/June 1999
RIDER: Quentin Robbins
LOCATION: Mt. Hutt
PHOTOGRAPHER: Craig Wilson
Quentin Robbins makes it three with the cover shot at Mt. Hutt. The Contents spread shows Richard Hunt blasting at Treble Cone. In “Trick Tip”, Terje Haakonsen shows us a switch 720 on a quarter pipe. “Women’s World” looks at the current women’s scene, followed by the “Crystal Awards” – which is Dani ‘Kiwi’ Meier’s photographic event in Austria, producing sick images from photographer/rider combo’s like Jeff Curtes and Dave Downing. Other good images can be found in the gallery “Photo”, including a great Treble Cone powder wheelie by Paul Trapski. There’s the “Buyer’s Guide”, and a feature by Ste’en Webster about his travels on the FIS gravy train judging World Cups – appropriately titled “The FIS Food Tour”. The back pages have a summary of all the late season events in New Zealand from last year, and there were many.
